STL Technologies - chosen by firms large and small
STL Technologies provides communications solutions for organisations large and small – as these case studies show.
May Gurney helped with major info services expansionIn just two years STL Technologies helped May Gurney overhaul and expand its information services infrastructure from twenty to more than fifty interconnected sites.
Working at a number of levels within the company’s information services team, senior STL communications staff insisted on taking a collaborative approach to delivering a full range of IT services.
Today, May Gurney’s long term costs are kept in check by a range of systems and software services and owing to the fact the company’s IS team has received hands on, in-house STL training.
May Gurney’s rapid infrastructure expansion required considerable flexibility from its IS division. Recognising this, STL provided an Expert Direct service, which meant putting a consultant at the client’s disposal year-round, plus a second ‘shadow’ consultant.
Now, May Gurney has achieved a 100 per cent roll-out of its infrastructure, including exchange collaboration services and numerous Microsoft database systems.
May Gurney delivers integrated construction services through five industry-focused service streams - infrastructure, highway, rail, utility and building and asset services. Working on long-term partnered contracts with public and private customers, the company employs 3,200 employees throughout the United Kingdom.
Calls to Colne Housing Association speeded up
Tenants calling Colne Housing Association now have their enquiries dealt with more speedily and efficiently thanks to STL Technologies.
Working hand in hand with Omniledger, a software developer for housing associations, STL handled the integration of Pyramid, a bespoke database, and the phone manager system provided with the organisation's telephone system.
At the same time, STL installed a Mitel 5000 at the association’s Colchester offices and provided and configured the following: ISDN 30, 75 IP ports, 48 digital handsets, six analogue extensions, four port voicemail, automaied attendant and Xarios phone manager.
Integration with the Omniledger Pyramid database provides screen-popping of tenants’ records as and when the incoming CLI (?) matches a record.
The Mitel 5000 was recommended because of its IP and networking capabilities as the association was providing its key employees with IP keyphones or softphones for remote and home working.
A future-proof invesment, the Mitel 5000 is flexible enough to meet the association’s communications needs as they develop.
Besides speeding up calls the new system identifies tenants as they phone in.
Connexions receives Windows-based infrastructure
Connexions provides confidential advice, support and information via telephone, e-mail and webchat for anyone aged tween 13 and 19.
STL Technologies was brought in by the organisation’s Norfolk division to provide telephony services and a Windows-based infrastructure.
A new organisation, Connexions Norfolk required basic file sharing and email facilities together with an ability to host an already-commissioned CRM system. A secure method for contractors to access the system was also required.
Windows 2000 active directory servers were implemented to host Microsoft Exchange 2000, Windows 2000 terminal services and Microsoft SQL 2000 servers.
STL also implemented Windows XP to utilise Microsoft’s IntelliMirror technology. This was put in place to ensure roaming users had a current back-up on the central file server. An ADSL service was instaled to allow Connexions to host their own email domain and provide a web portal into their mail system.
Working in conjunction with Connexions’ software developer, STL provided secure access to the CRM system through firewalled VPN connections to a Windows 2000 terminal server.
The Microsoft Active directory and associated policies were designed with expansion in mind – and Connexions has since extended the Active directory to incorporate two additional sites, with three further sites planned for the future.
Wireless LAN technologies have also been implemented to connect PDAs, laptops and Mac iBooks to the corporate infrastructure.
